An electric car that doesn't need to be charged at all

This car built by students at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is a unique one indeed.  Electric cars are popping up all over the place, from the Chevy Volt to the Nissan Leaf.  With charging stations starting to slowly roll out across the country it seems like our dependence on gasoline is set to drop dramatically.  This car however aims to take electric cars another step forward, by removing the charge stations all together.  The car uses induction to suck power from conductors embedded in the road.  The tech is similar to that of the Power mat, or the Palm Pre charger.  The difference being that no physical contact actually has to be made.  The metal charge plate sort of hovers slightly above the ground.  Now this technology obviously isn't very practical at this point, the car is a one seater and it tops out at 31mph.  Imagine the future though.  You pay your cars electric bill monthly just like your house or cell phone.  You drive around indefinitely without ever having to stop for a charge or to get gas, in your nice all electric zero emissions car.  The future of cars looks to be making significant progress after decades of the same old.
