In what appears to be the ultimate no brainer, Scientists are planning to build a gigantic solar plant on the edge of the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. It is in the sunniest 3% of regions in the world. Last week over 400 investors met for a 2 day conference. The Solar Park location is ideal due to the fact that it rarely rains, rarely has clouds, and doesn't have sand storms. The cost to build it would be around $22billion US, and take ten years to complete.
